Immersive platforms,
worlds you step into.
VR, AR, and virtual worlds, the platforms that host experiences you step inside rather than watch from outside.
A world you
enter.
Some platforms do not show you a world; they put you inside one. Immersive platforms are the systems behind that: virtual reality, augmented reality, and the virtual worlds and social spaces that surround you instead of sitting on a screen in front of you. They host experiences you step into, from games to events to shared spaces. This section is about that infrastructure, the platforms that make immersion possible and the worlds people now step inside.
Being an immersive space was our role for two decades. The brand opened as a Fort Collins music store in 1999, a place built to surround people in music, where stepping through the door meant entering a world of sound and gear. Immersive platforms do that digitally: spaces you step inside rather than watch. Knowing what makes a space pull you in and surround you is something we understood for years.
"Stepping into our shop meant entering a world of music, rather than only looking at one. Immersive platforms do that digitally, spaces you step inside, which is the surrounding experience we built for twenty years."

Inside, not
in front.
A space that surrounds you is different from one you look at, physically or virtually. A room built for music puts you inside the sound; an immersive platform puts you inside a world. Both wrap around you instead of sitting in front of you, which changes how present it feels. The space changes from a shop to a headset, the power of being inside rather than outside does not. Immersive platforms are that surrounding space, built digitally.
Immersive platforms host a growing part of what we cover. They extend the gaming platforms people already use, they deepen the immersive audio that surrounds you, and they open new ground for virtual experiences and the esports world. The platform you step inside is where immersion becomes real.
The throughline holds: being inside a space pulls you in more than watching one. The shop built to surround people in music and the platform built to surround them in a world do the same thing. Immersive platforms are proof that the surrounding-space sense we knew in music is precisely what makes virtual worlds feel like somewhere you are.
We were an
immersive space.
Most coverage of VR chases specs and misses what immersion is for. Ours comes from two decades as an immersive space: we know that surrounding people pulls them in, that being inside beats looking at, and that a space you enter feels present in a way a screen does not. Understanding what makes a space wrap around you is something we lived with for years.
From the gaming platforms they extend to the immersive audio they deepen, from the immersive spaces they echo to the esports world they open, immersive platforms are worlds you step into. We were an immersive space for twenty years.
Questions about
platforms.
What are immersive platforms?
Immersive platforms are the systems that put you inside a virtual world rather than showing it on a screen: virtual reality, augmented reality, and the virtual worlds and social spaces that surround you. They host experiences you step into, from games to events to shared spaces. Where a normal platform presents content in front of you, an immersive platform places you within it, wrapping the experience around you.
Are immersive platforms only for gaming?
No. Games are a major use, but immersive platforms also host social spaces, live events, virtual concerts, training, and shared virtual worlds. The defining trait is immersion, being inside the experience, not the type of content. As the hardware improves, these platforms are spreading well beyond games into entertainment, work, and socializing, anywhere being present inside a space adds something.
How are immersive platforms different from virtual experiences?
Immersive platforms are the systems and infrastructure: the VR and AR hardware and the worlds that host immersion. Virtual experiences are what you actually do inside them: the games, events, and moments themselves. One is the platform you step onto; the other is the experience you have once inside. Platforms are the where; virtual experiences are the what.
What does a music store know about immersive platforms?
We were an immersive space for a living. From a Fort Collins store opened in 1999, we built a place that surrounded people in music, where stepping inside meant entering a world. Immersive platforms do that digitally, as spaces you step into rather than watch, which is why a music shop understands what makes a space pull you in and surround you.
